While this is not very good news, the 18% decrease in remittances is made up for with the more than 18% increase in the value of the US dollar.

And the increase in the value of the US dollar against the Mexican peso might mean more if it weren't for the fact that prices for almost everything in Mexico, at least where I am, have gone up accordingly. Especially food, and especially at Costco.

I have watched the exchange rate improve only to see the gains eaten up by higher prices for gasoline, insurance, food, medicines and medical care. Fortunately I already own a house, but I gather the prices on new houses are up as well.
