Very timely, Rolly. The eathquake on the Oaxaca coast didn't have much effect here in the Jalatlaco barrio in Oaxaca City. There were two this afternoon. The first one I missed cold. I was riding in a local bus returning from the Central de Abastos - who could tell with all the rattling. The young kid driving was a real pro, however doing the best with what he has, cross shifting the transmission and electric rear axle as smooth as I've seen. That kid deserves a real machine and a cross country run. Somebody ought to recruit him. I hope he gets his chance. The second one happened about 2 hours later. I was in the kitchen and there was a little metal window and door tin sound - three times in a row. Had I not been told about the first one by the neighbor lady I would not have been sensitized enought to figure out what was happening. I asked Dorothy to move outside to talk (wheelchair). She couldn't figure out what all the excitement was in Cecilia's manner a few doors down. I had to tell her it was a earthquake. The degree of shaking seem to have a lot to do with how high strung the teller of the event is. This was my first earthquake, and I practically missed it. Later Dr. Ismael didn't think my hearing a rooster crowing repeatedly (like it was morning) after the second quake at about 3:30 PM had anything to do with anything. But Joaquin said that some people believe that the ducks can predict earthquakes by making a lot of quacking. All the neighborhood quacking in the street, including my own, was after the fact and not useful for predicting.
