Who selects the news items to be in Mexconnect's top 30 news articles?

As I write this there are 29 of the 30 articles on the same weather related occurrence and 1 on Mexico City's new anti-smoking ordinance. I think after I had read 4 or 5 of the articles on the flooding in the Northern part of the country I had learned all I needed and found nothing new in the rest. Isn't there really anything happening in the entire rest of the country?

C'mon guys, you're dropping the ball!

Agreed!

There are supposed to be automatic filters that weed duplications out.
I have emailed the sevice to see why they are on holiday again.

We shall see!

Does anyone know how Moreover selects its Mexico feed? I think I will do some research and add the info to Planeta. I think it's a good service, but needs to improved. It's not MC that dropped the ball on this one but M

Ron

PS) For those really interested in Mexican news, there is an online seminar that will be taught April 26-May 7th and conducted by Tom Buckley, the former managing editor of the now defunct Mexico City's The News.

Details about the seminar are online http://www.planeta.com/...riod/pubmexnews.html

David, suggest you also weed out the sources that require one to register every time it is accessed. They are a real pain in the neck, slowing use of your site. I automatically deep six them and go to an article that can be accessed directly.....Dutch

I do the same. The registration is a real pain.

Apparently your source still isn't cooperating with you. Right now 24 of the 30 news articles are on the restaurant explosion.

I'm not sure it's possible to get the source to co-operate - the link is to www.p.moreover.com and then specifically a link to Mexico. All moreover seems to do is to collect items with Mexico in the headline - it might be New Mexico - it might be almost anything. One just has to sort through it - usually the items that need registration to read do note that necessity - it's better than nothing. I think our Web Jefe probably has more than enough work on his hands and cannot sort through moreover's offerings on an individual basis.

You may be correct of course but we can't let him off the hook that easily. Personally I would rather NOT need to go to Mexico Online for my news. Please keep trying.
