Merkalink for Mail Delivery in Mexico from U.S. ?

I read on either this forum or possibly another one that merkalink.com was a good mail and package forwarding service. They're in Texas. I went to their site and have sent emails to three different people listed trying to set up an account. I've heard nothing from them. This does not instill confidence in a potential customer so I doubt I would use them even if I got hold of them at this point, but has anyone used them successfully?

I need a forwarding address and don't want to bother my friends/family with this chore. There is a local UPS store - UPS bought out Mailboxes, Etc. in the U.S. so that may work OK but it's probably pricey. I'm currently in CA, headed for Ajijic in about a week.

Suggestions welcomed.

We've been using them for 4 months now, ever since we made the move. We're satisfied and plan on continuing to use them.

We also heard about them here on MexConnect. We signed up on line, although I think we used the Spanish language version of their website. Not sure, but I don't think the English language version was working at that time.

We opted for the monthly delivery (as opposed to weekly), and it normally goes out between the 1st and 5th of the month. To date it has taken 4-7 days to reach us here. We've been using them only for mail and magazines, I haven't tried having any packages delivered.

We don't have an MBE option here, so this seemed like one of our few choices. Like I say, it's worked well so far.

What do they charge you to hold your mail a month - is it a 'per piece' charge or weight.

thanks

There's no charge to hold it. The charge is in the delivery. There's a base charge for the first kilo of weight of the accumulated mail/magazines (around $10 or so), then a much smaller charge for every kilo over that. Since most of our correspondence and really time sensitive stuff is done by internet, we figured once a month for the magazines, misc bank statements, and other stuff was sufficient and more cost effective than having a smaller package delivered every week. As I recall, your options were weekly or monthly. Packages are handled differently.

I think the pricing is listed somewhere on their site. Just fyi, our January and February shipments weighed 4.2 kilos each (lots of magazines and junkmail) and cost $15.95 (U.S.) each. Our March shipment weighed 3.4 kilos and cost $14.25.
