Lost Car Importation Sticker

Sometime in the last year our car importation sticker - which was affixed to the sliding door of our Caravan - fell off. It's not in the car. We have the original document it was affixed to when we first came through the border. Anyone know what the procedure is for a lost importation sticker? Or should I just hand over my car at the border?

Hola Georgia,

As the cops on Law and Order always say: I'm sorry for your loss.

I don't know the answer, but I'll bet you'll have to go to the border to get a new one. But first, I'd find the nearest Banjercito office and ask them.

Hi, Rolly,
That was our best guess too. As it turns out my husband is importing his car this June, so we've brought all the documentation from my car with us to see if we can straighten this out when we cross the border -- or our eyes, whichever seems more appropriate. (I'll pack a lunch. And sharpen the dog's teeth.... he'll be there, too, and he's BIG - at least by Mexican standards.)

I would still like to hear from someone out there who has lost this sticker: surely I can't be the only person this has happened to (I hope).
