I think I talk too much.

This is my 1,000th post on MexConnect. Gad, I need to get a life away from the computer. Smile

Our cabinet maker says he will install Doņa Martha's kitchen cabinets this coming week. So I'll have a final installement on that building story.

I have an appointment on Tuesday to begin shooting a picture story on making piņatas.

This afternoon I'm going to the cemetery to take pictures for a photo study of grave markers. I was there last Sunday for a funeral and was quire surprised by what I saw.

You certainly don't talk too much. I, for one, enjoy your informative and helpful posts and all the "essays" on your web site - keep it up. I look forward to the new essays to come and the wind up on the remodelling project.

Thank god we have you, Rolly. You are only making an average of two posts per day. I'm up to a measly 548 posts with an average of only 1.4 posts per day.

Folks you can get that same information about any of the posters by simply left clicking on your name or the name of anyone else posting on (or is it in) the forum

Rolly, you are retired. You have the right to talk (or write) all you want.

Besides, your information is always worthwhile.

As a new member here, you already know I count on you for responses and good information - I take what you say to the bank. I have not been able to get any money for it yet :)

Keep it coming.

Rolly, I have been reading your posts for years. I feel like you're an old friend. I enjoy you bit about the building process and your general observations about life in Mexico. All I can say is, keep it up and thank you.

Just like the painter Frida Kahlo (I think that is Frida, or you have a beautiful wife) who sits above your right shoulder, you are an artist at this exchange of information. I always value your posts and the sage advice.

So please continue on.......go for 10,000 posts

Rolly:

I have seen forums or listservers or other public spaces where one person is disproportionally active. I have even seen listservers where more than half of the posts come from one person! As you might imagine, this is not a healthy situation. Usually, that one person, even if in small doses they are OK, becomes a bore, a problem, and a liability rather than an asset. That same person, in my experience, is also apt to get in fights with people, especially if someone suggests that they cut back a little. That person probably also needs a life.

I would note that in some of the Mexconnect forums, the moderator does make a high percentage of the posts. Generally these are the more inactive forums, that need more posts. Note that in the Mexconnect forums, the moderator is not a self-appointed job, but is appointed by someone else, presumably because they are knowledgeable and responsible. This a little different from the person who decides he or she needs to answer every post, or start several new topics every week.

Anyway Rolly, the first paragraph does not apply to you or to anyone else I know on Mexconnect. It relates to my experiences on other public forums, including some that predate the internet. You are a long way from dominating the forums, but don't go up to ten posts per day! ;-) Obviously many people enjoy your posts, so don't worry. Have a nice day.

Neat! Didn't even realize that the forum kept those kind of stats. Hope my number of posts goes up a bit now that I'm here in Mexico full time. Well, maybe if I can keep my connection on line a bit longer, I dropped the connection again when I was finishing my first response to this thread. I suppose I'm lucky to be on line at all out here in the lesser provinces.

But to return to the original thread, I'm also a member of the Rolly Fan Club. Keep 'em comming, big fella! Your website is a real inspiration. I need to find time to start a small site of my own.

Rolly have you been listening to your wife AGAIN??

Please keep up your posts. I have only been on here for a little over a week, but the first few days I felt like I had 10000000000000000???? and posted several. You answered most of them with good information. Thank you Rolly

Now look here, Rolly, don't go on about how you post too much! I personally am still suffering withdrawal sintomas from when your first construction of the four unit house ended. I miss the weekly updates. I loved reading about the construction techniques and the photos were first class. We want more, not less!
