Rollie, To answer your question…it's a damn LOT! And don't forget, that's METRIC tons, i.e., 1,000 kilos or 2,205 lbs.; closer to what we call a LONG TON (2,240 lbs.), rather than the normal 2,000 lb. ton. Using the 105 tonelada quantity, that's 3,704,400 ounces of pot. A Mexican long ton of marijuana (or an old-fashioned Alabama long gallon of illicit booze) is equal to a ton along with the amount stolen by the local cops, army guys and politicians before burning the residual after calling in the local press to record the phony event. Back in Alabama during the local option prohibition years (1950s and 1960s), the sheriff would pour the bootleg booze into the sewage drain in front of the city hall after having filled his own larders and re-sale bodegas with enough to fund his graft. In today´s Mexico, they burn the excess marijuana after supplying their own distributors. The more things change the more they remain the same. Bubba´s Dictionary: LONG TON (or gallon): One ton plus that amount expropriated by local corrupted law enforcement agencies and politicians and (traditionally) tangentially involved community patriarchs for services rendered in order to fill their respective larders with re-saleable contriband in order to generate cash flow for personal property maintenance and enhancement. Definition constantly subject change due to to degrees of local avarice and corruption from time-to-time.
