High end kitchen appliance availability?

Can't Post | Private Reply
As I'm about to embark once again on my project here in Mazatlan, I'm in need of two or three specialty appliances for my cocina. I wouldn't have to ask this up North, but where in the world can I buy a good gas cooktop and convection oven and maybe refrigerator in Mexico. Are these items available in the larger cities such as Guadalajara or must I import from the States.

I'm looking for brands comparable to Wolf, Subzero and the like. This is a one shot deal for a "dream kitchen" so I want the best I can find.

Thanks!

Liverpool in Queretaro had what seemed to me to be high end appliances--the prices sure were--when I was looking for furniture. Liverpool is definitely a high end department store with many locations. I don't know about the convection oven though--I was looking for one and nobody had ever heard of such a thing. I don't know kitchen appliances beyond Mabe, Westinghouse and such, so I don't know about the brands you mention. There are also restaurant supply stores around which would probably have more specialized stuff. Not a lot of help, I realize.

Sure: I have subzeros in my old house here in Ajijic. When shopping for appliances in Guadalajara for my new smaller house, I saw Subzeros for sale, but when I saw the prices, I took out a copy of my Annual Consumers Report, and got other highly rated products like GE and whirlpool for a fraction of the price. But then again, I usually eat out, so it doesn't matter what I have.

I'm not specifically looking for the "Subzero" brand, per se, rather the higher end of the household appliance market. In the last ten years, the appliance manufacturers have come out with more upscale home kitchen units to more closely match the commercial models. I particular, I'm looking for a nice 36" gas cooktop with cast burners, and quality commercial quality finish. If this is available here, I'll be more tahn pleased. Maybe I'll have to go for a real commercial unit from a restaurant supplier.

I don't think you'll have any problem finding what you are looking for either high-end home or commercial. In Torreón near where I live, there are several such places. I'm sure Guadalajara will have more.

Peter me boyo, that is such a waste! You have such a GORGEOUS kitchen! And that view! Most cooks would give up whatever "parts" they could spare for your kitchen!
