Good Mexican people should take back their country?

Can't Post | Private Reply
Memo in the Gulf of Mexico area wished the good Mexican people would get tired of current affairs and take back their country, like this?

http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P1-19784972.html

I have long loved this story. It seems, there had been rumors, stories that young Mexican children were kidnapped and sold in the U.S. for their organs. When I was in Huejutla last, I went down to the kiosk and the nearby jail to take in the sights.

The ridiculous idea that small children are kidnapped at random by doctors and wealthy people for organ transplants, or for adoption by U. S. citizens, is widespread in Latin America and has resulted in lynchings before.

You may remember the case in Mexico City less than ten years ago when three plainclothes police officers were conducting surveillance of drug peddlers near a school and the suspects convinced residents that the officers were looking for children to kidnap. They were seized by a mob and tied to telephone poles and set fire to. Police helicopters hovered overhead and the three were interviewed live on Mexican TV while burning but the crowd of thousands kept police from coming to their rescue. Two were burned to death and one survived.

This is an archived Univisión report of that incident, which was in 2004:

http://univision34.univision.com/...vivos-a-dos-policias

Mexico City - Two Mexican police officers died after being burned alive Tuesday night in the town of San Juan Ixtayopan, in a rural part of the Mexican capital. The two men were lynched by the residents who presumably mistook them for kidnappers, radio and television stations reported...

I remember that incident quite well, and another in Guatemala, where a U.S. tourist was lynched — something I'm sure "gene089" also would call the actions of "good people". Mexico is not so barbaric as to impose a death penalty, which makes me curious why people support any extra-judicial murders (even of "alleged" criminals by military units) unless they are rooting for the barbarians.

Personally, I was thinking of something more along these lines:

There are problems with indigenous police too believe me. It is just as corrupt as the rest of the police.
A friend of mine´s mother was beaten and raped by a young man from the same community a couple of years ago. The same kid assaulted and raped a widow and a 10 year old girl. He got away with the widow by saying it was consenting sex as "she wanted it after her husband died".
Got fined about the little girl and got away with my mother´s friend. The kid is from that community and the police does not want to start a feud in the community, the police from Chenalho will not touch the case with a 10 foot pole.
The kid will only get arrested if he goes to San Cristobal which of course will not happen.
Meanwhile this maniac is roaming the hills and raping and beating up women at will... great indigenous justice !!
His family is defending him they are influential and so goes the story until he kills a woman from an influential family nothing will be done to this sicko.

My take on the original story was that the local citizenry were convinced that these two out-of-town individuals were guilty of trying to kidnap local young girls for bad things and as long as the individuals were held in the jail to face justice, the citizenry were satisfied, but when a judge ordered the individuals released on bail, the citizenry were convinced that the individuals would flee, never face justice, and probably repeat their crimes . Rightly or wrongly, they elected to take matters into their own hands and see that justice was served. My point was that the Mexican people are capable of organizing, taking matters into their own hands, and correcting injustices, maybe the basis for some optimism that Mexico will work through the current crisis it is facing. This may not have been a good example for some.

The wealthy have always controlled everything.
If the regular folks stood up took the country back would get it, not them.
In many places the regular folks are looked down upon and treated like slaves, and most of them are real poor. The government has to represent the law and not the felons. The government must not be in it just to make money and get richer.

I always had a feeling that the many poor and downtrodden basically do not care about the rights of others. The poor will take care of local issues for the honor of another that they know (rape issues etc). Since the poor need money and the state (Mexico) will hot help, many will work for others performing tasks that they are ashamed to admit they do and are afraid for their lives once they get involved. Many of these things have been taking place in your large and small town since the 60's and before.

I thought you were describing the U.S. until I saw the word "Mexico."

It reads to me as a message from the cartels saying they will wipe out the Zetas.
