Gerber Blades in Mexico City

Can't Post |
My wife's sister in Mexico City is looking for 2 types of Gerber blades.
I am visiting D.F. in early July. Can
I put these blades in my checked-in baggage and feel comfortable that they will make it? Or can she purchase them somewhere in D.F.

I have thought about shipping them as well if I purchase them.

Any suggestions?

Gerber blades are blades for knives and other tools. You can do a google search. They are famous blades used
in fishing, kitchen, etc.

If it were me, I'd call the airlines. Off hand though, I'd think the safest way would be in your *checked* luggage.

They are great knives, I have several.

Jose Ojeda, a world famous knife maker in our town, sells many knives of all types. Many are taken back to the U.S. and Canada, by tourist and "snow birds" in their CHECK IN Baggage.

I brought 3 Nickelson machetes in fundos and two rat-tailed files back a year ago in checked flight luggage from el DF on a three step flight to the Midwest. Thes were ugly 24 inchers. Everything was fine until Cleveland when they picked me out of the crowd for a "random" detailed search. I was standing with a South American friend who looks mildly Arabic, they took me and not him. I was incensed at the time, and only after did I remember that I had the machetes in my luggage. It is no wonder they pick me. but how did they know me by sight?

We went down with three boxed sets of kitchen knives to give as presents - no problem.

Who knows how this year works.
