Francisco Sarabia -- aviation pioneer -- another new webpage

Francisco Sarabia was a major player in the early days of aviation in Mexico. Since he was also a native son of Lerdo and there is a museum of his life here, I put together a little web page about him.

Probably of the most interest to aviation history buffs.

Hi Rolly

Glad to see you were able to get this up on your site, epsecially since the Sarabia Museum is in the town where you live. IMO, he was a true hero and it's really unfortunate he died the way he did.

The other people with a particular interest in him are stamp and postal history collectors. Commerative covers were prepared and franked with a stamp which was specially overprinted by the Mexican Post Office. A portion of the sales of these helped fund his record flight and the covers currently sell in the $300-400 range.

At the time of the accident there was a tremendous outcry in Mexico with claims being made that his plane was sabotaged and there were allegedly a number of riots which were apparently anti-US in nature.
