For those who temporarily lost access to the Forums.

First: Welcome back.
You were never meant to be banned or to have lost Forum access.

Second: What happened?
Inadvertently a complete set of IP numbers were locked out. This meant that a whole slew of subscribers could not get access to the forums for no reason other than they are associated with those IP addresses. There was no intention for you to be banned.

I have fixed this - I believe.

I'll fess up to being the one who screwed up. I was up early one morning, very early, and while I was getting hopped up on some good expresso, I logged on to find about 4 or 5 messages that were from a temporary user. I can't repeat what the poster said because it was very offensive and it's hard to offend me. The messages were both sexual and racist and I accidently hit "ban IP address". I'm using an older laptop and the curser, at times takes off like it's being controlled by aliens. I meant to ban the user but the curser slipped over to the IP address and bam....so goes the story. I extend my apologies to all people who were affected.

I was banned in the evening. I posted at 3 PM, went out to do some work, came back at 7 PM and I was banned.

This evening I wandered over to Lonely Planet at The Thorn Tree and thought I would give it a try. I registered as a New User using the same real information I list on Mexconnect: name, user ID, and e-mail address. I hit the enter button and WOW!...... I'm banned there, too. Never having posted there, I thought that was rare. Here is what they said:

You have been forbidden to post/reply or edit a message in these forums.

gogo 6/9/04
back

What could gogo 6/9/04 mean? Well 6/9/04 seems like todays date, which is the date I was trying to sign up. gogo???? Anyway I redid the form using a different name, user ID and my hotmail address which has an initial in it. Wammo! Welcome Jimmy.

I wasn't banned from the forums, but did receive a note that since I chose not to renew I would be losing access.

I had renewed (for a year) the month before.

Suggest you check your renewal system as well.

Banned for Sexual and Racist comments from a Temporary User by someone who is hard to offend? ? "Gay Trolling"?

I resent this.

We are all temporary.

I'm not exactly sure what you are saying but I'm assuming you read the deleted posts.

Uh...thanks for compimenting me on my toque. I guess.

Did I call someone a Gay Troll? You may have me mixed up with Peter down the street.

Like I said before, the IP ban was a mistake. In fact, the ban was widespread. I had a friend in Maz who said he was banned. Technology never ceases to amaze me.

You may believe we are temporary but if you look at Stephen Hawkings predictions, the chances are remote, but do prove that another coincidence of this life form happening is entirely possible. You just have to wait it out and hope for the best. It's possible that gay love will be the norm and hetro's will be "against gods natural law". However, considering all laws of adaptation, it's much more believable that we'll all return as cockroaches.

I'm still unclear what you resent or did you mean resemble?
