For Military Retirees who might be thinking of moving back to the USA

Hello all,

A list has just been developed of the ten best locations for military retirees in the USA. If you are thinking of returning to the USA for whatever reason, you just might be interested. Waco, Texas is the number one spot.

I am familiar with Waco, so I almost gagged when I read that.

Now Rolly, you're letting your personal disdain for TX shade your judgement. Of all those listed, why would you go to any other place than one of the TX listings? Waco is actually a nice place, out by the lake are some great places.

I grew up just down the road a piece from Waco and used to visit relatives there.
The only time I was ever mugged was in Waco.
I can't remember a single good thing about the place.
But what has to do with México?

You can be satisfied that while in Mexico, you will enjoy far better weather than 90% of their chosen great places!

We moved to Mexico from Waco, TX. Waco is a fine place to live, work and raise a family. Would I want to be a young, single, career person there? - probably not. As opposed to some places which are a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there, Waco is a nice place to live but I wouldn't want to visit there.
My parents, daughter and grandkids all live in Waco, and we do visit there several times a year.

As I drove through Waco no one of my trips NOB, I was trying to remember the last time I was in that dusty old cow town! It was a bunch of decades ago! What a great little (and not really so little anymore) city it has become. I think it would be a great place for a military retiree, who was not prepared to come to Mexico along with, College Station, Edinburg and for that matter even Brownsville, TX. Actually any city in Texas is very good to military service retirees. Wish some of the other states would provide some of the great benefits that Texas does for the military.

I'm visiting in San Antonio right now, it's pretty nice but I much prefer Mexico, had breakfast with friends, he's retired military and they live in Iowa. He was saying what great benefits the Texans get as opposed to those living in Iowa, he gave credit to the Governor here. Norma

I saw where they rated Syracuse, NY and a couple of spots in the upper Midwest very high. My family was from Syracuse and all I can say is that: "it is a good place to be from"! The upper Midwest speaks for itself weather wise! Obviously that wasn't one of there factors for consideration.

I can't say who in particular, but I am sure that all legislators in general who voted for such a different number of bills along; with the people of Texas who elected those legislators deserve a warm and heartfelt thank you. One organization in particular "the Texas Veterans Commission" deserves a big pat on the back. They are a really active and supportive group that has clout, especially with the VA. It is a state that always seems to pull through and don't forget those who "signed" saying they were prepared to lay down their lives (and many did) for their country. Really a very patriotic state.

Thank you Texas,
