In April I converted from an FM3 to an FM2. It was renewal time for me anyway. I was asked for copies of every page in my passport and the old FM3, as well as all the usual financial documentation, bank statements. And I provided copies of my house ownership papers, as well as copies of the paid real estate tax receipts. I paid the two fees for the renewal at the nearest bank. I don't remember now why there are two, but there are. And took the receipts for the paid fees from the bank to the INS, but first I made copies of them. I know the standard of living of the guy where I get my copying done depends on me. (humor) A month later, when the FM2 was to be ready, I went back, and was told it would be ready the next day. I went back the next day and now they said I had not paid the fees. I produced my copies. They made copies of my copies and told me to come back next day. Went back next day, and now they said the front page of the application, the FM1 I believe, was missing. I did not have a copy of that, but reasoned with them, why would they have accepted my application on day one without the front page? That was all to no avail, but prompted the nice lady to help me fill out a new one, on the spot. And, come back next day. Next day I went back, and the FM2 was ready. Just do whatever they tell you to do. But after you make copies of all the pages of all your documents for them, be sure to make copies of all receipts for fees paid, and the application. That might be a little tricky, as they might not want to let you remove the application and all the supporting documents to go get them all copied. That is why I did not have a copy of the front page of my application to show them when mine went missing. I certainly hope it is true that after four years of renewals with the FM2 I won't have to go through these renewals. That is why I switched from the FM3 to FM2. I cannot envision myself, in my old, old age, running all over this place every year in 100'F+ weather, jumping through all their hoops.
