Are people having problems logging in, or what could be the explanation for the scarcity of new messages? All generalities are suspect, including this one.
I don't know about everyone else, but I've been having trouble viewing and logging into the forums. Seems like the site is changing bit by bit, or maybe my browser is just going haywire. So with the site doing funky things and midterms right around the corner, I haven't posted in a while.
Plus I find the color scheme that's been up lately is extremely unappealing to look at. Bright blue-greenish letters on a soggy wheat toast background accented with rust red. Yuck!
I must be doing something right as I am not experiencing any problems - at all! I log into the forums with no problems, but yes, there seems to be an absence of postings.
For the first couple of days, I could reach the home page, but could not get into the forums or e-mail. Wanted to tell someone about the problem, but there was no way. Glad to see I'm back in. Agree the color scheme isn't great.
I had to change my bookmark to reflect the new url that represents where to log in to the forums. My old bookmark *looked* like it would log me in, but it didn't.
I don't know about aliens (and I have written to the forum admin, but no answer) but when I go to log in, it doesn't recognize my old username...the one I still get into the mail with. So, the little red letters that say "sign me up" don't work. Just on a hunch, I tried using my "gringal" handle with my old password and lo ! I got into the forums.
How about the fact that the opening page has an option: "User sign up" but when you click it, a red-lettered phrase comes up saying "no such action as user signup".
Oh yeah, sure is! :) Didn't even notice it myself till you pointed it out Anonimo. I emailed tech support last week about my login issues and got a message from a Tony saying the look will be changing soon; they have this interface temporarily until they finish updates.

My opinion is people have been driven away by nasty replies from the "moderators". Instead of having a free and open discussion in which ideas are shared (even if disagreed with), if the "moderator" is in one of their frequent moods, the writer is slammed and treated with disrespect. I think many of us are fed up with this kind of attitude and no longer check in with mexconnect. I understand why David has made it free...trying to lure readers in. I doubt it will work without some moderator changes.
My advice is get rid of some of the moderators and allow a free exchange of ideas. Dr. Mike

There are hundreds of paths up the mountain, all leading in the same direction, so it doesn't matter which path you take. The only one wasting time is the one who runs around and around the mountain, telling everyone that his or her path is wrong.
Well, there are several Moderators on Mexconnect and I can't just lump them all into one 'bad moderator' category. In fact I think that the majority of Moderators are quite good. One seemingly does get her share of bad press..... maybe deservedly so for the way she 'treats' some folks..... but to suggest that bad moderators have driven people away from Mexconnect seems to be a real stretch for me. Just my opinion, 'tho.
Nope, it's true. There is one modertor on this forum who has driven some people away. They feel as though they're afraid to post not knowing when they will be zapped. ms mac
Actually, it's been rather well documented that a goodly number of people have left due to conflicts with some moderators.
I really like MC and have stuck around for a few now, and yes, I agree, although MC is not a bed of roses, it could come pretty close, if the persistent stinging bite of a particular thorn was replaced with fresh colors....
Well color me wrong I guess. It would take a real jerk to drive me away... and before that I would have a long talk with the Webjefe about why 'his' agents are sending people packing.
But again, I personally am basically pleased with most of the moderators as I am with most of the participants. Every barrel has a few rotten apples of each type I suppose.
Don, I’ve always been a paying member since Feb. of 05, and wasn’t on MC before that. It maybe correct that free membership before then created a larger membership but I wasn’t privy to this, so I really couldn’t say. The only input I can give is during the paying membership part of it.
One thing for sure, your one of the crones that’s been hanging around these corridors before, and after I came on board and quite frankly I’ve always rooted for you and your tenacity in dealing with monumental health issues and hanging in there like a champ, so we can continue hearing from you every now and then.
