Do allowances change during holiday season?

We've heard rumors before that during the holiday season the personal allowance for dutiable items (when driving across the border) is increased from the normal $50/person. Does anyone know if this is actually true? If so, any idea what the allowance is increased to, and when it goes into effect?

Hello,

Yes, it has been true for the last three years. The new allowance usually begins sometime in December and lasts through sometime in January. So far as I know it has not yet been announced for this year. The information will be here on the forum. It is usually announced by Jennifer Rose. Adios. Jerezano.
