There may or may not be anything to this but be alert. This morning, I got a call at my personal residence in Jalisco from a woman speaking fluent English with a Spanish accent offering to renew my Costco membership over the telephone without my having to come into the nearest store. All I needed to do was give her a credit card number over the telephone. I, of course, declined this opportunity. A couple of points: We just renewed our membership recently so this did not make sense. Why would Costco encourage you to renew without coming into the store? Giving out one's credit card number over the phone from an unsolicited inquiry is never a good idea for anybody. I am not saying this was not a legitimate service but why take a chance? You can't use the card without going into the store anyway.
