Can't put Uncle Donnies book down - ROTFL :)

Laughing, at all hours, keeping my roommate up last night - Uncle Donnie's new book is hysterical. It is also packed with the most truthful and helpful information that anyone moving to Mexico (or just thinking about it) will ever need.

For those of you that don't have it yet - don't wait another minute (even if you think you know everything there is to know....you don't!) - you can purchase it at www.trafford.com.

Thank you again Uncle Donnie et al for this wonderful book. As I plan my return trip I am gaining tons of useful information and more than a few laughs (belly laughs!)

HEAD FOR MEXICO is.........

.........indeed, a very funny book. I had the pleasure of reading an advance copy in order to do a book review for Judy King and Blue's monthly online magazine. http://www.mexico-insights.com/ Having read most of what has been printed about moving to, and living, in Mexico, I can say that Donnie's long awaited book is the best I've seen. I chuckled and chortled so much on my way through the manuscript that Patty thought for a while that I had found a long lost stash of happy grass.

I don't know if you can call a newly published book a classic, but HEAD FOR MEXICO is surely headed for the top of the pile of "Mexico Books". You can also buy it on www.Amazon.com If you really have nothing better to do with your life, you can also read my review of Donnie's book on Amazon.

After I bought Blue's Midlife Mavericks... and corresponded with her, she pointed that had I bought it from the other place she would have gotten more royalties.

Uncle Donnie: duz ya get more money if we order from Trafford? I must admit, I didn't fancy the $8.50 shipping charge from Canada.

OTOH, how much does the consumer save by getting it from Amazon. They have free shipping on some/most books if you go over $25.

Hopefully, Don gets the same revenue.

can't wait for UD to reply, i just saw in another forum that he's posted a photo in the same get-up as the book cover.

I'm also getting ready for the 2nd reading. It is certainly good value for money viz the amount of time it takes to read. And it's loaded with useful links.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for all the kind words. And here's your photo darlin'.

Sandy, as far as where to buy the book; I just suggest whatever is best for the individual. Trafford is faster (and evidently more expensive) and I gues that means Amazon and B&N are slower but less costly. You can also check with Mark Farley at http://employnow.com/headformexico.htm. He's probably the best of both worlds...U.S. postage and books on hand ready for shipping. Nice page he put up for me too.

And as for the photo, Teresa loves it. I think I look like someone's demented cousin but I love her and I'm bowing to her wishes and suggestions.

Blue has a different distribution system than I do. I chose a smaller royalty and more services from the publisher because I'm not interested in becoming a businessman. It's nice to make a buck or two but that's not one of the primary reasons I wrote the book.

I had my version of moving to and living in Mexico to tell and that was my primary motivation. I also thought I could do the job better than anyone else I knew of (Dios, what an ego!) so rather than criticize others I just did my own thing.

And as an aside, I don't know of any of us (although nobody calls me to give financial statements) who are earning enough from our book sales to even pay rent on a year-round basis. Personally, I just wanted to write that book, I had the opportunity, and I had a ball researching and getting it ready for publication. Plus, I met some really neat people along the way and found out who my true friends were.

Head for Mexico is my gift to me; the fact that some of you like it is your gift to me. Money pales in comparison; but it DOES come in handy at lunchtime! Thank you.

Shameless self-promotion:

I have to come out of the shadows long enough to say that after reading the praises on this and other boards I bought the book and loved it!!! I've read four or five other books about moving SOB and have been glued to the web boards for about a year and still was amazed with the amount of information in this book. Additionaly, the websites and recommeded reading list will easily keep me busy through the winter.

UD, thank you and congratulations

ps: Will Theresa be "assisting" when you entertain guests? (Very funny)

Don, great picture to go with a great book. I read mine in one setting the first time, stayed up until 2 pm in the morning. I've read it a second time since and will probably read it a few more times. So, when are you starting on the next one? I'm ready to pre-order!

When I went to the Trafford website there was a list of other books with Mexico as the subject so I ordered a few of them too. Hope they're all as good.
