Buy here and bring or get there?

I love those little Honda scooters (I think 50cc) which do about 40-45mph. Can I buy a decent one in the Chapala/Ajijic area? How much? How do I find one?

Thanks.

I was never in the market to buy one, but there are scooters everywhere. We make it a game to see how many scooters we can count between Nestipac and Tom's Pizza as we drive thru the world capital of Scooters, Jocotepec. So far the record is 38 scooters.
My friend bought one in Guad, thou it's not a Honda (I cannot remember what model he has). His scooter has a alarm and a remote starter on it!
I know some, if not most dealers offer financing on a scooters of 16,500pesos and up.
If I was in the market I'd sooner by a quad.

Don't know whether it's the cobblestone streets that have dissuaded many scooter riders around the Ajijic area, but you won't find much action there. Jocotopec, OTOH, is the scooter mecca on the north shore of Chapala Laguna. New & used Sales & service is available, and you'll find scooters riden all around town. Most of their roads are asphalt, making them easier on both the scooter and rider. You might also consider putting up a Wanted note on the bulletin boards of the gringo haunts - I've seen them advertised there as well. Buena Suerte!
