Bringing a custom built car into Mexico.

I have a replica (semi-kit car) of a 1929 MBZ Gazelle. It is a real head-turner. It is registered in California as a "Special Construction" vehicle. I don't intend to Nationalize this car and want to know if I'm going to have problems getting it in since it isn't a standard "Ford. Chevy, VW, etc."

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I sure don't think you will have a problem. I have a friend who has a plastic VW powered kind of sort of Porche. He has had no problem. If I can remember to ask him, I will. I'm trying to finish my move to my new house and to prepare to head north for the summer.

You will have no problem. The vehicle import permit is not limited to certain cars. It is an open-ended spot and the aduana lists exactly what is listed on your title. But you do need a VIN number.

Good to know. I may ask my R.E. Broker to double check but assume it is done at the border. I'm going to have it either towed or trucked there unless someone has a better idea. Don't want to drive it that far. I tried to post a picture but don't know how. Computer (il) literate I guess.

Memories: I bought one several years back from a factory in Florida. I picked it up and brought it back to Tennessee on a utility trailer. I had just built my house with a full basement and put it together there. Mine was what they call Black On Black On Black. Fun Fun Fun

Mine was built there also but this one has a Ford Mustang II V6 engine and runs great. I want to take it to Lakeside.
