Birth Certificate

Can't Post |
I need help in trying to obtain a copy of my birth certificate. I was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on 2/13/1938. I'm an American citizen and have resided in America most of my life. I am currently retiring from my job and would greatly appreciate any information on how to obtain a birth certificate from Chihuahua, Mexico (San Francisco del Oro). Thank you so much!

More than likely shortly after you were born your parents registered your birth at a Registro Civil office in your pueblo. If you do not have relatives who still live there that could search for these records you could contact the Mexican Consulate nearest you and ask them on how to proceed. Another good source to obtain information about your birth is via church records if you were babtised in the Catholic church. I have known cases where the Mexican government has issued a birth certificate after seeing proof of baptism. Maybe Jennifer Rose will weigh in on this one and offer some better ideas. Good luck with your quest.

Saludos,

Thank you so much, BME. I was born in San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Mexico, but I don't have relatives living there now. If there is anyone out there who would go to the registro civil in Chihuahua and mail the certificate to me, I would be happy to pay them. I know I'm registered there because two of my brothers obtained theirs there. Thank you so much!!

Go to the Chihuahua state website at http://www.chihuahua.gob.mx, where you'll find a link to Solicitud de Actas de Registro over on the right-hand side under Tramites y Consultas.
