Believe it or not, it may be cheaper

Can't Post | Private Reply
for me to air freight my personal belongings to GDL than to ground transport them from Los Angeles. I'm wondering if anyone knows if I can bring in my "one-time only" shipment of personal items on my FM-3 by air freight and then collect it at the airport and have it checked by Customs there.

And on the one item I may have to transport separately, any idea of what duty would be on an older (not antique) baby grand piano?

Thanks.

Yes, you can bring your shipment in by air freight and at reasonable cost per lb. There are customs brokers at the airports in Mexico to handle the process. I know people who have done this, including myself. I would suggest you send it off a few days ahead of your flight and then when you get there it should all be waiting for you in Aduana. They told me they wouldn't send it on the same flight I was on anyway, airline policy. Once you have rested for a day or so, you can deal with the broker and Aduana. It is fairly straightforward. Good luck.
