I went to the Bank of America today ed into their new SafeSend Transfer Card. They had never issued one :) http://www.bankofamerica.com/...ng=en&context=en I am not yet convinced it is as great as it sounds. There is a limit of $1,500.(US) per transfer & a limit of $3,000. total per month. For each transaction they charge $10. plus 3% exchange. So if you did the two maximum transfers per month it would cost you $110 + the $3,000. of course. And, you can do the transfer online if you have a Bank of America account. Yet is better than a $3,000. wire transfer which would cost $45. plus the 3%,or whatever, exchange. Except with the wire transfer you would not have the $3,000. limit. But you would need a bank account in Mexico to complete the transfer (most would have that). With the SafeSend card it can be used like a cash card except it is instantly in pascos. And, it could be used at a bank, an ATM or a shop that takes plastic. I may get one - but in my own name (me to me). They intend you send money to Mexico for others (children, students, family) but the guy at their toll-free number says many are doing the "me-to-me" since it is better than carrying cash or Travelers Checks. Does anyone have any experience with the SafeSend? Coppertino Coppertino Pretty nice here in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico. Picture says it all.
