ATV's on the beach

I am sure this must have been discussed here at some time so perhaps you can just point me at an old thread.

I need to know whether ATV's are illegal on the beach and what sources we have for saying so.

If someone knows the applicable Mexican statute and article number that would be AWESOME.

Johan....If we all do a little we can do a lot. Visit our little corner of paradise at the Jaltemba Jalapeño.

I've heard they are but we still have them. Usually they only get chased off if they are racing up and down the beach or on busy times like Semana Santa

Just had a HumVee hauled out of the surf a few weeks ago by the military in downtown Melaque

It's frowned upon, but I haven't seen evidence there is such a law. In fact, during Semana Santa and other busy tourist times, we've noticed the Fed's using ATV's to patrol the beaches. Areas designated as a nature sanctuary are definitely off limits, for obvious reasons.

Probably (and I can't say for sure) depends on the beach. Horses are banned from some of ours here in Mazatlan, because it's a sea turtle nesting area, much to the consternation of one of our locals who has been complaining about it in one of the local on-line forums.

Anyway, this is the kind of thing more likely found in regulatory code than in federal statute.

Beach in Lo De Marcos has a sign posted from the state of Nayarit what is not allowed on the beach. One of the illegal activities is the use of an ATV on the beach.
