60 Day Permission to leave Mexico letter

I am in process of renewing Non Immigrante card. Complications have drawn the process out to the point where I have to return to US before process is completed. I've done the fingerprinting and signed the papers that go along with that procedure.

I will be given a "60 Day Permission to leave and enter Mexico" document/letter from Migracion.

My question is this: If I return to US and my visa finally gets processed, can my lawyer pick up the visa and documents I will need to sign and Fed Ex them to me in US, I sign and return documents and keep my visa for my next trip back to Mexico?

Does that permission letter just expire and I will be ok with traveling back to Mexico with my new visa at my leisure, OR do I HAVE to return and pick up the visa in Mexico personally within those 60 days and am I required to return with that letter containing exit and entry stamps before the new visa will be issued?

It's a complicated question(I think)and thanks for anyone who may have experienced this situation before helping me out with an answer.

It is my understanding from friends coming in tonight that they are coming to pick up their new INM credentials by turning in their travel letters BEFORE they expire. It isn't possible to have anyone pick them up because you have to turn in the letter. They are making the trip just to do that

Intercasa (Lic. Spenser McMullen) has written about the legal and practical aspects of this in the past - either here or on Chapala.com. My best memory of his experience is that since you have been approved by INM, paid your fees, and been fingerprinted, - then with a Carta de Poder, your lawyer can pick up your finished INM residency card, and send it to you. When you re-enter Mexico you officially use your new INM residency card, and also present the exit & re-entry letter to turn-it-in to INM, and it all goes smoothly.
Happy Trails,
