2 questions; fm-3 and auto sticker

Can't Post | Private Reply
Miracle of miracles, I went to the San Antonio Consulate yesterday and waited while they prepared my FM-3. Drove to Acuna this morning to activate it and get my auto sticker. #1: the sticker goes where-upper left where the oil change reminders are usually placed? #2: There is a pagina de "Salidas" in the FM-3 opposite the pagina de "Entradas". I got an "entrada" stamp going in but didn't get a "salida" stamp when I crossed back. Is that going to be a problem? Gracias, Miguel

......that by activating your FM-3 you started the clock on the time you have to register your FM-3 in whatever location you are moving to.

On your FM-3, don't sweat it. Since an FM-3 holder isn't subject to limitations on time spent out of the country, the entrada and salida stamps aren't that important.

If, however, (and this is for FM-2 holders), those dates and stamps on the entrada/salida portion of your book are important. If a date's wrong or a seal is missing, you will have to do some explaining to INAMI at the time of your next refrendo. The 'splaining's not that hard. Last year, the migracion official at the airport completely forgot to stamp my book once, and another time, the month was completely wrong. Copies of my plane tickets and a letter of explanation did the trick.

Hi Mike,

Great to hear how easy that all went for you - perhaps you will be able to get a few nights sleep before departure now ;) I was confused about where the sticker went. Last year it did go in the left hand corner. As I was going to put it in the same place this year I noticed on the back of the sticker that it showed a location next to the rear view mirror. So, mine is in the center next to the mirror. I'm not sure if a change was made, or if mine is in the wrong place. I wouldn't imagine either way is a problem though!

Also, on a totally different subject, Kathryn was wondering if it would be possible to bring her some "Lime-Away" with all your other stuff.

Congrats on the paperwork!

Yep, someone really greased the skids for a change. I hit the banjercito about 9:30 on a Wednesday morning and sailed right thru, not another person within spittin' distance. My sticker doesn't have a diagram or anything in either language that indicates where to put it so I'll go with you and center the sucker. Sure thing on the lime away, how much does she want? I'm probably pulling out of here around the 28th or so and maybe crossing on the 30th/31st, depends on the customs broker, so if there's anything else just let me know, plenty of room on el trucka. Regards, Mike
