Sounds to me like things are pretty much the way they were for you in Costa Rica. I must say that the mail service has improved over the years but it is pretty much slow and unreliable. It takes about 3-4 weeks to receive mail from the U.S. and a couple of weeks normally inside of Mexico. I do get my Newsweek from Mexico City normally within a week but then sometimes it doesnīt get there at all. Something else to tell people who are sending things is to be sure to print the name and address and in the correct format. Many people have never learned to write or even read script so it will be unintelligible. The Format is also important. Example: Jim Wehrle Calamar 20 SM 27 Mz 11 Lote 10 Cancun, Quintana Roo 77500 There are others even more complicated so make sure people have the correct names, numbers and format. I had a Mail Box Etc. number for a while and found it to be expensive and not that much more reliable. And donīt send anything through the mail that you canīt afford to lose.
