Violence in Motozintla?

I arrived in Mexico City 10 days ago, and am staying near Chalco. We were going to go to Motozintla, Chiapas but got reports from my friend´s family that the town is closed down, there was fighting in the streets with shovels and machetes.
The residents of Tuixcum and other area in the sierras cannot get into town to buy supplies, and transportes are shut down from Huixtla to Moto.

They tell us that Americans are mining there illegally, the roads are collapsing and people are getting sick from the fumes.

Does anyone know anything about this?

I do not think I would try and go right now. Lots of stuff to see and do in Mexico city.

Last I heard was it was a Canadian Company that was the problem not a firm from the US . I has been going on for quite a while, there were problems there last year already.
It is separate problem from the move of the administrative headquarters that everyone is up in arm in Motozintla.
