Van service, Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido, etc.

Some friends tell me the new Fodors Mexico has an entry about van service between Oaxaca and P.E. It seems to be through Viajes de Oaxaca and another company. Does anyone know more about this? Is it reliable, safe, etc? We have friends who will be coming to visit and may fly to either P.E. or Huatulco. Is it a service that is always there ready to go, or do you need to make reservations. Fodors says it runs around 5 times a day. Info will be greatly appreciated.

I am in Oaxaca now. The word is: they pack them in and drive like hell for 6 hrs over very winding roads. They call this the "lunch and vomit run". Buena suerte

Now THAT's an excellent description I can relate to! So it seems that the night run by ADO or whatever delujo bus line does it is NOT the only way to get to the coast -- there are some primero bus runs during the day that are more comfortable than the vans. I believe my friends have decided to fly in or bus in from DF instead of flying in to Huatulco or wherever, so the question is more or less moot at this point. But this is good information for when we're down there in early 2006. Of course, by then everything might have changed....
