Update on Museo Ferrocarril

In need of a walk today, I checked out the railroad museum, figuring Sunday is often family day at museums. Nope, not open. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. No sign of any passenger service being offered. From April - June, there are classes held there in music, dance, theater, painting, etc. I walked around the r.r. yard and took some photos, but didn't go all the way down to the end due to some mangy, yapping dogs. In addition to some colorfully painted box cars and an old train in the yard, the museum is actually just one room of displays. I could see them through the locked glass doors from the old passenger waiting area, complete with ticket window.

Perhaps, geri, you can tell us what town hosts this famous railroad museum that is not open.

Oaxaca. The museum is in the old railroad station. It's not big, but it's a lot better having the station refurbished and used as a railroad museum than seeing it torn down as so many others have been.

It's probably not all that interesting if you have no interest in trains.
