Coletos (as people from San Cristóbal like to call themselves) have been celebrating Easter for about a week leading up to Easter day itself with seemingly non-stop partying and Easter Sunday itself is the beginning of the annual Feria de Primavera y de La Paz, or Spring Fair, which lasts for about a week and kicked off with a huge parade with many visiting bands, floats and huge, festive crowds. My wife reports that this was a great spectacle not to be missed and God willing, we´ll both be there next year at Easter time. Here at Lake Chapala, the Easter celebration is much more low key consisting primarily of serious picnicking and better dubbed La Feria de Las Botellas y Bolsas Plásticas judging by the incredible amount of garbage civic minded celebrants leave to decorate our beaches once the festivities have wound down. This Spring Fair in San Cristóbal looks as if it will be a lot of fun and the weather is spectacular at present. As I indicated above, I understand this celebration goes on for a week and I´ll update events as I hear about them.
