Renting in Oaxaca

I briefly lived in Oaxaca a couple of years ago and would like to return to rent a small apartment on a month to month basis. Last time, I rented from a friend's home but this time I will be living with my partner and want to find a small studio or apt. I teach online but our budget is still pretty economical.

We would be looking to pay ideally 200-250USD/3000pesos or just a bit more. I've looked at Oaxaca craigslist but there isn't much. We would be arriving this October. Any helpful tips are greatly appreciated! And I am looking at Oaxaca (Oaxaca de Juárez) anywhere that is is a 20-30 minute walk from el Centro Historico. Or easily accessible by a local bus.

I'd suggest that that you stay in an economical hotel or hostel for your first week in Oaxaca. Then pound the streets looking for "se renta' notices. You could also try the Oaxaca Lending Library and its bulletin board.
