Reasonably priced hotel close to Cancun airport

Can't Post | Private Reply
Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced hotel close to the airport in Cancun? We'll be arriving 12:30 A.M. (horrors!) and then flying on to Merida as soon as we can make connections.

I guess another option would be to catch a bus, if any are leaving at that time of night, and sleep on the road! Any suggestions from those of you that have made this trip, or are familiar with the area?

Thanks so much for your help,

Marcia

There are no hotels close to the airport. You can take the bus downtown for $15 pesos per person (last one of those leaves from the airport about 12:30 a.m. so you may have to take a cab) and stay at Novotel or El Rey del Caribe http://www.reycaribe.com/ closeby and get a bus to Merida--trip takes about 4 hours. Bus times, prices and info at http://www.ticketbus.com.mx/...img/tb/eng/index.htm

Jim,

Thanks so much for the info. Hotel looks great and a decent price. Expected to have to pay much more in Cancun. Looking forward to the trip and some sunshine...we've had a nasty 5 month long winter here in Alberta.

Guess I messed up...posted on both the practice and the Yucatan forums...looks like it was automatically forwarded to the appropriate forum, so there's two messages in one spot. I'll know for next time!

Glad to help. And I can recommend the hotel--I know the owners--nice people and very involved in ecological movements and their hotel is ecologically conscious, neat, clean, well-located and reasonable--and, no, I don't make a commission!! LOL And don't worry about the other message. Now you see it, now you don't. Come back anytime and especially after the trip to tell us how it went. Enjoy!!
