Quieter beach near Cancun Airport for an overnight?

Hello

We'll be driving from Merida to Cancun this Thursday and would appreciate suggestions on a nice place on the beach within one hour of the airport. We stayed in Puerto Morelos and really liked it.

Well, there are all sorts of places (resorts) between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen, not to mention Playa itself, but none of them will have the 'old Yucatan' feel of PM. My choice, having already stayed in PM, would be Akamul which is about exactly 1 hour down the coast from the airport. It is "lower key" similar to PM.

My sister stayed in a great B&B between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen,, isolated on the beach and reasonnable. Cannot remember the name but google B&B´s in that area and you will find smaller .nice places on the beach.
