I hated deleting other peoplesīposts at the same time (especially my great responses about Human feces saving the world and IMHO the cause of most of Travelerīs Diarrhea! Oh, yeh and all of the other great stuff from ET, Tony et al :) but it seemed the cleanest way to clean it up. Sorry.

But donīt run away! I now know that you are out there and checking the board so start posting--It has been so quiet here that I might even welcome a small flame war!! (Just kidding! I know this crew--a small flame war with you folks quickly turns into a raging forest fire and then I am back deleting posts again which is how I started out this message.)

How about some good natured differing opinions about

1.- What is your opinion about topless sunbathing on Mexican beaches?

2.- Will the war affect your travel plans?

3.- Will the airlines EVER come back or will flying be the privilege of the few instead of the right of the many?

4.- Are cruise ships good or bad for Mexico?

5.- Since we all know what WOULD NOT BE a good business in Mexico--WHAT WOULD BE a good business for a foreigner to open in Mexico?

Now if some of that canīt get somebodyīs dander up, then I donīt know my controversial topics.

Come on folks! Letīs get this going--there is life beyond CNN ! I hope.

My attitude is the same withour regard to where the beach is located. Topless sunbathing is fine -- for men with good physiques. Personally, I believe that men who do not resemble Brad Pitt should dress modestly at all times, as should women.

Whenever I go to the US, I'm always fearful that I won't be able to return to home to Mexico.

I'm afraid that the fare wars of the '90s taught the Clampetts about flying the friendly skies, and the floodgates have been opened. OTOH, we could run the risk of discussing how most of the world's population has never been on an airplane.

I think they're great, because they keep the rifraff from spending the night on Mexican soil. <g>

Accounting firms designed to meet the needs of taxpayers with non-Mexican tax obligations. A private ombudsman for expatriate affairs.

Where do you find topless sunbathing in Mexico?? Everywhere we go everyone lays around on the beach or goes in the water in t-shirts and shorts. Oh, forgot, you're out in Cancun. We're actually neutral on the issue. We've encountered it on Isla Mujeres and it neither bothered nor attracted us or anyone else in the family.

2.- Will the war affect your travel plans?

Not unless they make the border even harder to cross. I guess we travel/fly so much that we don't really think about it. I'm convinced I stand a greater chance of being hurt in a traffic accident in this city than I do of being injured in some terrorist incident while traveling.

3.- Will the airlines EVER come back or will flying be the privilege of the few instead of the right of the many?

Again, maybe we're just flying different airlines or different routes. I know some airlines (like American) are in trouble, and some flights may have been cut, but most of the flights I've been on up here in the last couple of months are pretty full. I think the prices are still reasonable (maybe that's the problem with profitability for some lines) and especially with the accessibility through the internet I think flying is still a bargain.

4.- Are cruise ships good or bad for Mexico?

Better than cruise missles........ Sorry, don't have much contact with the issue and I'm surprised that it would even be thought of as potentially bad. I thought that anything that generated more tourist activity would be good. Maybe I'm not understanding the potential problems from an ecological point of view.

5.- Since we all know what WOULD NOT BE a good business in Mexico--WHAT WOULD BE a good business for a foreigner to open in Mexico?

Business?? As in work?? Oh, sorry, forgot myself again. Thought we were on the Retire in Mexico forum. My bad.

Something appears a bit wrong with the mathematics here, in that the not-unsubstantial time invested in providing answers got completely wiped out, and then you ask for more time to be invested provided filling for your forum.

PS - I would encourage you and others who caught your last posting on the causes and treatment/mitigation of Travelers' Diarrhea to do additional reading on the topic. There were, in my personal opinion, both technical errors and misinformation in the posting.

So I am new to this board! I am tired of the repetition and stupidity on tourist boards and arguments over what to tip. And I am planning a move to Mexico. So I want to join the ex-pats. Anyway, I have retained a lawyer and notary in Cancun to create Madam ZZ, S.A. de C.V. Haven't filed yet but surprsingly, the name has been approved! LOL! So here goes: 1.- What is your opinion about topless sunbathing on Mexican beaches? It's fine with me but I would never do it on a beach where there are any Mexicans.

2.- Will the war affect your travel plans? My mother has a very critical heart disease and she is a survivor of bombing campaigns in Europe. I delayed my March trip.

3.- Will the airlines EVER come back or will flying be the privilege of the few instead of the right of the many? Charters will survive and rule. Or is that a pipe dream?

4.- Are cruise ships good or bad for Mexico? Bad for everyone everywhere, IMHO.

5.- Since we all know what WOULD NOT BE a good business in Mexico--WHAT WOULD BE a good business for a foreigner to open in Mexico? A tourist service business for gringos who can't fend for themselves!

Now if some of that canīt get somebodyīs dander up, then I donīt know my controversial topics.
