One Day in Huatulco...

Can't Post | Private Reply
Hi Everyone,

I am so unfortunate as to have only one day in Huatulco, visiting in early April on a cruise ship (I know, I know..).

I am wondering if someone could advise me as to a fun day of touring the bays, browsing markets, and eating... yes I am a foodie, and mole is my favorite. I am doing some research and I thought perhaps hiring a taxi for a tour of the bays, and perhaps to take me to La Crucecita for a little walking, shopping, and lunch, and maybe later, an afternoon stop for a drink at a relaxed and not overly-crowded beach. I don't plan to swim, but who know?

Since I am traveling solo, it may be costly to hire a taxi for the full day; perhaps a half day tour, then find a taxi from La Crucecita to the beach and then back to the port from the beach? I don't know how easy / difficult this may be.

I am open to all suggestions. And if you care to recommend a driver, I'd appreciate that as well.

Thanks so much,
Jeana

Jeana,

Huatulco has no croweded beaches and taxis are about 3.00 USA dollars (for 4 people) anywhere in the immediate area and not much more for other places.
You can taxi to some beaches instead of using a boat. Many people swim on the beach in Santa Cruz just a few hundred feet from where your cruise ship will dock.
It will also be very hot when you arrive so bring a hat, water, and sun screen.

La Crucecita is a very nice SMALL town, but go there immediately and save the beach at Santa Cruz for later. It has nice restaurants and small shops.
Check out the Catholic church on the principal plaza. Go in and look at the paintings on the ceiling. When you leave the building, turn left and go to an ice cream shop on the corner, which also has a NICE restaurant and hotel.

We will be in Hautulco in a couple of weeks and will have much more to say in late March. Perhaps you could request an update ;-)
