Oaxaca Lodging Needed

Can't Post | Private Reply
Friends are coming to Oaxaca City on February 9, leaving the 15th or 16th. They are having trouble finding a place to stay. (They are working through a travel agent.) I said I would see what I could learn from posting here and on the Yaho Oaxaca-city-streets-shops group. Any suggestions? Perhaps a small apartment near Centro? A condo? A small hotel that the NOB travel agents don't know about? A B&B? I don't really know their price range, but the only rooms left at Camino Real were $300 USD, and that is far too much. Maybe under $100 USD? Please respond soon, because we will be leaving for Oaxaca in a few days. Thanks for your help!

You might try MexConnect author Geri Anderson, who rents out rooms in her house. Here's her home page:

We usually stay at Las Golondrinas, but that's probably known to travel agents. If you want to call and check it's 01-(951)-514-3298. Not fancy, but very nice. Interesting. prices in the 400-550 peso range iirc.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! They have rooms at the Hotel A La Parra. Their email to me said "a El Perro" and I couldn't imagine staying at the Dog Hotel. But from looking at pictures of it, it doesn't look like a dog at all.

We are staying at the Hotel Casa Catrina ventas@casatrina.com.mx a small hotel from February 8- 11 rates $1,980.00MXP plus 18% tax breakfast included we have three rooms rented at present for that period and if I remember there are only 2 standard rooms and 4 suites, you might give that a try.

Thanks, Bud. Our friends settled on Hotel de la Parra. It is quite a bit cheaper - unless your price per night includes all three of the rooms you've rented.
