Land of Goblins and Fantasy

I know I have written about this before but the tale bears repeating.

The State of Chiapas is a place of such extraordinary beauty that choosing certain drives as singular in their magnificence is a futile task so I will talk about the things that I see and smell and experience there perhaps to the point of boring the reader.

After one leaves Minatitlan, Veracruz on the La Tinaja-Minatitlan Autopita which connects Puebla with Villahermosa, one turns Southwest toward Tuxtla Gutierrez and joins an autopista that skirts the states of Veracruz, Tabasco and Chiapas and traverses a mountain range of exquisite beauty I can only describe as of almost Disneyesque beauty. A Hobitland of sculpted evergreen mountains that defy description. What a wonderful passage and at least it´s there even though it is deficient in that the roadway was clearly constructed by corrupt contractors working for equally corrupt governmental officials but they have been fixing it and it keeps getting better. and because it is a realtively new autopista, it avoids all urban defilements and is a treasure. Do not miss this memorable journey.
