Info on Mahahual?

Can't Post | Private Reply
I'm planning our first trip to the Yucatan, and would appreciate any information folks have on Mahahual. We are looking for peace and quiet in a natural setting, with a comfortable setting on the beach. We want to snorkel, laze on the beach, and take a tour into Sian Ka'an.

Is anyone familiar with the Mayan Beach Garden? It looks wonderful but I can't find any independent reviews.

Also, is the presence of the cruise ship pier anything to worry about in terms of feeling trapped or over-run. In November, when we expect to be there, up to three ships a day are scheduled.

Finally, does the presence of a military check-station present any concerns to a couple of middle-aged tourists?

Thanks for any and all help!

Dave

We visited Mahahual and stayed at Balamku a couple of years ago. Go to the home page and type "Balamku" under Forums Search.

We enjoyed the area and Balamku. Note, however, that it's pretty hot this time of the year and there is no A/C.

I believe their website is www.balamku.com.

Enjoy your trip.

Have no fear of the military check points. We encountered many driving up Baja. They are just young men doing what the gov. tells them to do. Most are very sweet. Smile a lot and keep your Lonely Planet Book on the dashboard.
