Hotel close to airport in Cancun?

Can't Post | Private Reply
I've searched but only found one thrad from 2004 and am hoping for more current information. My parents are flying into Cancun on March 12th and want to spend one night only in Cancun as they don't want to drive at night down to PaaMul. Can anyone recommend a hotel close to the airport for them? TIA!

There aren't any hotels right at the airport, they would have to come into Cd Cancun or out to the hotel zone. I've seen recommendations on Lonely Planet for hotels in the city - and I've seen quite a few while driving there that look very nice but of course, I don't know the names. Maybe do a search on LP Mexico.

Why not have them drive to Puerto Morelos? It is 20 minutes from the airport and in the corect direction. There are several small hotels right near the town square. Hacienda Morelos is right on the beach there.

thanks you guys! My dad has a huge thing about driving after dark in Mexico; so that is why they don't want to drive the hour to Paamul. :) Thanks for the info on Puerto Morelos! I'll send it to them.

If it helps, the highway is now divided as far as Paamul. So, he would not have oncoming traffic to deal with. We just came back that way last night from Merida, well after 2am but without problems. The 2 lanes in each direction, concrete dividers with landscaping between directions has reached exactly to Paamul as of last night. By next week it will be farther no doubt.
