I think there is place where the movers' helpers hang out looking for work. It might be the Parque de la Mejorada, across from the School of Architecture and the Church of the Mejorada.
This is at 50th (a North-South running street), between 57 & 59 (East-West streets), I think.
I am not sure however.
If some locals will respond and let me know, it would be helpfu. I need to find a couple of strong arms in 10-12 days to unload some furniture for me.
