We had taken our granddaughter to Akumal 10 years ago,and now she wants to get married there.. Does anyone have information/experience in this area? She would prefer to work through a resort or travel agent. Post or e-mail.

I'd suggest emailing - and visiting their site - www.locogringos.com for help with locations and arrangements and housing. Kay (the main locogringo) has lived in Akumal for 15 years and gives great service.

There are several condos and houses for rent on Akumal Bay and Half Moon Bay and there are a couple of nice restaurants that cater weddings inside or on the beach. There are also a couple of large resorts farther down the coast, I believe they are all-inclusives if that is what you prefer.

It's a beautiful spot for a wedding or just to live, I live there 6 months a year.

If you type "cancun weddings" into any search engine you will get a lot of options and information. Working with a wedding coordinator makes it easier--I know the Palace Resorts do them and there are some individuals as well. For information about getting married in general I would recommend "It takes more than 'I do? in Mexico"
