I PLAN TO SPEND NOVEMBER 2003 THRU MARCH 2004 IN THE PROGRESO OR SURROUNDING BEACH FRONT AREAS. WOULD BE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING AFFORDABLE BEACH FRONT OR NEAR BEACH PROPERTY( EXTENSIVE STORM DAMAGE O.K., I DO PROPERTY RE-HAB) IF AFFORDABLE NOT AVAILABLE RENTAL WOULD BE OPTION. ANY INFO AS TO REALISTIC PRICES TO EXPECT OR ACTUAL AVAILABLE PROPERTIES OR RENTALS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. HAVE TRAVELED A LOT IN CANCUN TO TULUM AREA BUT UNDERSTAND PROGRESO AREA IS MORE AFFORDABLE. IS THIS TRUE? AM SEMI-RETIRED AND HAVE SOME FUNDS BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR CANCUN PRICES. LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM ANYONE KIND ENOUGH TO ENLIGHTEN A GRINGO SNOWBIRD.

Expect to pay about 60,000 to 80,000 USD for a relatively nice home in the Progreso area including Chelem, Churburna, or Chixulub. Financing is not available so cash will be required. Look at JensYucatan.com for some avaialble homes. I recently purchased a nice home in Chelem for 70,000 USD.

Hi, My mother is selling her hotel in Progreso in addition to her home a few blocks away. If you want more information you can contact me: april@sps.net.sa or visit the hotel's website: www.siesta-inn.com. It's best if you use my email address for questions because the contact link on the website needs to be updated. Her hotel has 14 rooms, 2 pools an restaurant and tiki bar. She's asking $400k. The house is a 2/2 with a guest house in back. It's really cute and only one block removed from the beach she's asking $85k. Both were slightly damaged by the storm to the tune of maybe $500 dollars or so. Not much at all. Good luck! April
