An old book about Chiapas

Ever read, "The Book of Lamentations' by Mexican author, Rosario Castelanos?

Highly recommend this book for those looking for cultural background material about Chiapas.

Rosario was born to Mestizo parents in the state, to a life of relative rank and privildge but went on to dedicate her life to the indigenous people of the state.

Although her book is 'fiction', it outlines details of the 'caste-like social system'
that operated(operates?) in this part of the country, long after some of that system began changing in other parts of Mexico.

Rosario went on in later years to become a Mexican Ambassador. Her book was published in 1962.
