Does anyone have any information about an English speaking AA meeting in San Cristobal de la Casa? Location, dates, times, if there is even an English speaking meeting, etc. Any info is appreciated. Thank-you.

I don't know about San Cristobal specifically, but you will be amazed at how many AA groups there are in almost every nook and cranny of Mexico. I lived in a small Zoque village in Chiapas and there were at least two there. Where I live now there are maybe six within easy distance from my house. The meetings themselves may not be conducted in English, but you will probably find other members present who speak enough and they will certainly make you feel welcome and supported in your sobriety.

I live in Merida and yes there are tons of meetings in Merida but only two are English speaking. I have attended some Spanish meetings and they are an experience all on their own. I was hoping for the possibility of an English meeting in San Cristobal as they are easier for me to participate in. I can attend Spanish AA but like I said, I was hoping.

Here is a link where you can search for meetings in general in any State and municipio in Mexico. It also gives info on each group. http://aadb.graphics.net.mx/...n=&buscar=Buscar Shows a lot of meetings there but not specifically in English.

Here is the Mexconnect Information but I don't see San Cristobal de las Casas there. http://www.mexconnect.com/...ml#Meeting Schedules

I have another contact and am checking now.

I would be surprised if you could find a AA meeting in San Cristobal in English. The English speaking population is very small and most people who live here full time speak Spanish. The best bet would be to find someone at the meeting who can help you or pay someone to go with you. Teachers make about 50 pesos an hour at the private schools so you should be able to find someone who can go with you.

I really didn't expect anything in English but I remember it was only three years ago when it was just two or three of us in Merida at an English speaking meeting and now it's grown into a base of about 12. More with visitors. I'll get by with my Yucatecan Spanish but I was ever hopeful. Judging from the link provided there seems to be a meeting (in Spanish) in the barrio that we'll be staying for a month. We are escaping Merida's heat in May.Thanks to all that have replied.

There are lots of AA meetings at locations all over town so you will not have any problems finding meetings. No problems escaping the heat either, it has been a really cold year here. May is the beginning of the rainy season in San Cristóbal and the weather is quite fresh and pleasant normally.
