2007 Mushroom Fair in Cuajimoloyas, Oaxaca

For years I’ve heard myths and tales of the Oaxaca Magic Mushroom found high on mountain tops where they are harvested by an exclusive group on native Indians. The hallucinogen aspects of these little critters are reputed globally. Naivety may come into play here but are these mushrooms legal in the state of Oaxaca?

Now the big question is, are these Oaxaca mushrooms common amongst the Oaxacans and are samples provided at the Fair or as a token courtesy for ones patronage with accommodations and dinner ………? ;-)

Good question, but that's a different town and different mushrooms. Cuaji specializes in the non-hallucinogenic psyllocybin variety.

For the mushrooms you're talking about, head to Huautla de Jimenez
