motels or bed and breakfasts

We're traveling through Matzatlan on April 12 and just need a motel or b&b for one night. We're pulling a 5X8 trailer and need secure parking. Tried all the basic travel sites and most show sold out except they are only dealing with resort and beach tyhpe hotels. Any help would be appreciated. Did not think about Easter Week.

It's more like Easter TWO weeks, not just Easter Week. The schools will release their students on the previous Friday to your visit and Mexico will head for the beaches over the 2 week period and prices go crazy during this time period. If you are just passing through and don't want to visit Mazatlan particularly (at least at this time of year) you could arrange to stay in one of the "no tell" motels on the highway. They have secure parking for your vehicle.

Try Captain Moe's: http://www.captmoe.com/reviews.html. It's small but they might have space, and it's only a couple of blocks from the main drag.

Captain Moe's is a great place but it's no where near the highway. The "main drag" you talk about is the main street through the tourist zone. Mazatlan is not just the tourist zone. In fact, that part of town is probably only 20 percent of the whole city.

The poster seems to be just passing through and overnighting, so a trip through the Golden Zone would be a hassle with a vehicle and trailer at this time of year. Also, it would be street parking only at Capt Moes.

I asked someone the other day where they were staying in Mazatlan and she replied "right on the main drag". I had no clue what area she meant and tried to think what would be considered the main drag. We have several arteries leading from the highway and through the city. It turns out she was staying in the Playa Norte area part way between the Golden Zone and Olas Altas. That particular stretch runs from Olas Altas in the South, north to Cerritos and El Delfin areas, probably about 20 kms (?) and changes names about 3 times in the process. Just like one of the main arteries from el Centro to the Highway. It also changes names as you travel along, so best to have a map when in Mazatlan to know where you are.

You are correct, I just couldn't remember the name of the street. Since they're only going to be there one night I wasn't sure how much time they would have to explore the rest of the city.
