Will be there 1/19-1/2 checking out places to live, medical, etc. Would very much like to meet some expats currently living there, but don't want to wait a full week until the Canuck meeting! Can we hook up? Anything you'd like me to tote down there for you? Gayle in Portland

Hi Gayle, I think Jan. 19th is a Tuesday. The group in Canuck's meets on Fridays and another group meets at the Hotel Las Flores on Sundays.

If you wander around the Olas Altas area at sunset time, and Plaza Machado area in early evenings, you will have no problem meeting expats. You will meet many. Have a good trip!

Thanks for your reply. Well then Marlene, I guess I'll just have to wander in those areas during those suggested timeframes with a big sign around my neck "hoping to connect to expats for advice on moving here", huh?

If you are in the Plazuela Machado around 10 a.m.....there is usually a group of gringos having coffee at the Machado Fish Taco restaurant....just drop by & join them - you will always be welcome.

You didn't mention in the original post that you were looking for moving advice. There are more reliable sources than those you meet by chance, or some of those drinking cocktails at sunset, for important things like your big move to Mexico. :-)
