Tecolote beach, 20-30 minutes from downtown, is very nice. Definitely go on a day-trip to Espiritu Santo, where views and wildlife are splendid. There's a fascinating colony of sea lions. It can be COLD on the boat, especially in the morning, so wear layers over your swimsuits. Excursions can be booked from various locations downtown and normally include transportation (may depend on where you're staying). A good source of info is the tourism office on the Malecón near Los Arcos hotel. They are very helpful and can point you to art exhibits or other happenings during your visit. La Paz is pleasant for walking, and I've stayed there three times without needing a car. But if you plan to visit Todos Santos and Los Cabos, you might want to compare cost of renting one for a couple days vs. other options. Great seafood tacos at the outdoor stand across from Mas department store. Enjoy! Kate
