We tried this website to obtain more information about this new Independent Living Facility in Mazatlan but the webpage could not be found. Can anyone provide and address or telephone number for this facility: The Melville in Mazatlan.
Thank you

I just tried this address: http://www.themelville.com/

and it worked fine. The page uses some fancy HTML language so it may not be working with your browser.

I went to check it out, using Netscape 7.1 and could only get the home page and the apartment page. Everything else came up as "not found". However, when I switched to Internet Explorer it all came up. I do hate to have to use IE but sometimes there's no other way. The Melville may be missing out by having a site that only accepts some browsers.

The Melville is no longer assisted living in the sense it was originally designed to be, however it is so well located near the Plazuela Machado and it's restaurants, the ocean, mercado etc. it appeals to many first time renters to Mazatlán.

The Melville, I believe, has a full time maintenance and other staff. In Mexico, that may be considered "assisted living" :-).
I also think there is someone staffing the residence full time for security and if there are any other problems. Next time I'm down that way, I'll see if I can mosey in and check it out.

I'm amazed at the price of the Melville. My mother, age 92, is in an independent l;iving facility in Stockton, California and it is about $1,100/month but it provides twice weekly maid service, three meals a day and it does include electricity(!) and it is furnished and has very nice common areas, activities and a shuttle bus. With no meals, no electriciyt, much less expensive help and other costs, why is the Melville so expensive?

Are other independent living/assisted living facilities in Mexico equally expensive?

Well, I don't think the Melville is expensive when you look at the location. Where would you rather live? Check out assisted living in San Francisco. It sounds like you have a great bargain even for Stockton. I'm sure you can find cheaper places to live than Mexico. But then again, I bet you can cut your mothers expenses in half if you lived in La Noria. It's a quaint little village about a half hour from here where, recently, I found a place to rent for $30 a month. At that price, you could have a full time registerd nurse and every other amenity you wanted and still eat shrimp, filet mignon and drink the finest wine.
